Tuition
Learn the foundations of sewing in a calm, creative space that celebrates care, curiosity, and connection. These beginner sessions are designed to build confidence and understanding whether you’re threading a machine for the first time or returning to sewing after a break.
Up to 2 participants • 10 flexible hours • Beginner friendly • Rooted in sustainable design
Across ten flexible hours, we’ll cover:
Getting started with a sewing machine and overlocker
Hand sewing techniques including visible repair
An introduction to sewing patterns, including both physical and PDF formats
Principles of sustainable making from reusing materials to garment maintenance and alteration
Your learning journey begins with a relaxed consultation over coffee and cake, where we’ll chat about your goals and plan your sessions. You’ll also enjoy a guided trip to the fabric shop, helping you understand different fabric types, textures, and how to make sustainable choices.
Each participant receives a sewing kit to take home and a personalised folder of teaching resources to support continued learning and confidence after the course.
Sessions are one-to-one or in pairs (maximum of two participants), allowing plenty of time for questions, experimentation, and conversation. Together, we’ll explore slow, sustainable ways of making that honour both fabric and wearer.
All genders, bodies, and backgrounds are warmly welcome. My teaching practice centres inclusion, and sustainability, creating a supportive and affirming space for every maker.
